Cabrera is a exceptionaly beautiful vibrant town in María Trinidad Sánchez province, Dominican Republic. It is located at the eastern end of the county's north coast, 130 kilometres north of Santo Domingo. Today it is the fastest growing ocean town on the North Coast. (!!!) A new highway connecting the Samaná peninsula to Santo Domingo and through-passing Cabrera town is rumored to finally open to the public this summer, 2008. This is expected to halve the driving time to the country capital from 4 hours to 1.5 hours as it is a straight 120km.
Cabrera is considered one of the most beautiful places in the Dominican Republic. Located facing the Atlantic ocean, Cabrera has the most beautiful and prestine beaches, rivers, exotic vegetation and many natural attractions. A National Park reserve is located in El Breton, a small section of Cabrera called Cabo Frances Viejo.
The most attractive beach nearby Cabrera (only 5 km) is Playa Grande (Big Beach), cited by Condé Nast Traveler as one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Other local beaches include Playa Caleton, Playa Precioso, El Diamante (Diamond Beach), Playa La Entrada, El Caleton de Dario (Orchid Bay/ Cristal Beach), El Caleton del Medio, and El Caleton de Chiquito.
